5. RESPONSIBLE MARKET SURVEILLANCE AUTHORITY
For Germany:
To fulfill the responsibilities under the Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz – BFSG), the federal states (Länder) of Germany are currently establishing a joint authority.
The Market Surveillance Authority of the federal states (Länder) for the Accessibility of Products and Services (MLBF) is expected to commence operations as a new public-law institution on June 28, 2025, in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, in the state capital Magdeburg. This is contingent upon the ratification of the inter-state agreement (Staatsvertrag) for implementing the BFSG by all federal states (Länder). All federal states (Länder) are currently creating the necessary legal conditions for this.
